Jewell Will Contest Ends in Sealed Verdict
The Jewell will case concluded last Thursday when Judge Hobson read a sealed verdict. The jury found Mrs. Emily Jewell sound of mind when the will was made and that Frank Jewell and Ida Jewell exerted undue influence. The estate remains as if she died intestate, requiring amicable division unless heirs agree otherwise. A new trial motion was filed by Frank Jewell’s lawyers within thirty days. The case marked one of the county’s most stubborn district court contests in years. Separately, John Mullaney vs. E W Cutting upheld setting aside a sheriff’s sale on a Frankville farm, with the court’s remarks toward the plaintiff remaining uncomplimentary.
