Dust Control By Calcium Chloride On Broadway Streets
Residents along Broadway and nearby cross streets can now open doors without dust. Seven tons of calcium chloride were applied to the streets, stopping dust quickly. A spreader was calibrated to two pounds per square yard, with a first treatment lasting five to six weeks. A second application of one pound per square yard will cover the rest of the season. The method aims for lasting quality and reasonable cost, with Decorah’s test proving satisfactory and potential wider use next year.
