County Board Fails to Agree on Iowa River Bridge Plan
The Allamakee county board and our county supervisors met in Waukon on Tuesday to discuss building a bridge across the Iowa river at the county line in Pleasant township. Allamakee proposed moving the bridge a half mile east and selling the old bridge for 2500, with both counties paying half the sale price and half the moving cost. Our board opposes the plan, arguing the old bridge is too short to meet state requirements. The decision is not yet made and may be referred to the state commission for a possible arrangement.
