Lead tablet claims Hennepin possession for Louis XV near Callender
Archaeologists examine a 1750 dated lead tablet found by Ruth Peterson of Callender near Webster County. The inscription asserts Father Hennepin and General Farquart claimed the land in the name of Louis XV, during the year of our Lord 1750, amid a rough fleur de lis shield engraving. The find, though eroded, echoes a dramatic colonial claim dating to a lakes region history puzzle.
