Stork brings Pryde baby and more at local homes
A telegram to Nels Riete reports Hilton Pryde Jr birth at Mr. and Mrs EBH Pryde Chicago. A baby girl weighing four pounds was born Sunday evening at Mr. and Mrs Nels Hang. The stork left a Valentine at the Coffeen home Thursday for a son of standard weight.

Chimney Fires Hit City Over Weekend
Fire crews were called to N Willett’s Fourth Ward home Friday night for a chimney fire with no material damage. Saturday saw a large chimney fire at the St. Cloud hotel that burned out without an alarm. Sunday morning a chimney at Nels Riste’s First Ward residence drew the department, again with no damage. Staats Hall in Waterloo noted as a visitor at Decorah on the first of the week.

The Decorah lyceum announces Chief Caupolican will perform March 1 after illness forced postponement. Renowned for native dress and storytelling of the Aurocanos, he sings native and other songs in a rich baritone. First Shipment of Hospital Supplies by Winneshiek Red Cross
The Winneshiek Red Cross chapter sent a first shipment to Chicago's Central division with 3056 items. The consignment included 789 surgical dressings and 37 muslin bandages, 3120 wash cloths, 672 handkerchiefs, 33 comfort bags, plus 270 knitted sweaters and 165 helmets. Since January 21, 1690 knitted articles have been completed and forwarded.

Facing Fell From Dam During Spring Freshet
The facing or false top on the lower Bernatz dam was washed away last week when the lee went out between the two Bernatz dams. The facing is installed every fall to hold back water and typically fails in spring freshets. This year it failed early and the cold turned water into an early, larger escape.

Patriotic Program at Luther College Audiorium Tonight
