Cripples Form Government In Town City Hospital
Twelve year old Patrick Ramey of Burlington is mayor of the fourth floor of the University hospital at Town City after an election in which crippled youngsters under treatment as the result of the Perkins law participated. He won from Lorrain Wilharm of Cedar Falls by one vote. Ramey is a democrat but says party feeling will have no part in his rule. George Sloan and Leon Monahan, both Des Moines youths, were elected councilmen to assist in keeping ward possessions from being monopolized or destroyed. The government on the floor is a device to occupy their minds during repairs. They plan a weekly independent newspaper to be issued by typewriter.
