Lawrence Falck and his wife of Arlington visited relatives near Locust and De Corah. They recently rented their farm and plan to take life easy. They bought land in Fayette county twenty two years ago for $33 per acre, a record for the area. Now surrounding land sells around $130 per acre, and they would not sell at any price.

Power Company Suit Over Dam Flooding Farm

On November 30 T H Connor and Mary Connor filed suit against Interstate Power Company and W H Burtis seeking an injunction and relief from overflow of water caused by a new dam. They own a Glenwood township farm about three quarters of a mile above the dam where there was a ford on the Upper Iowa river. The petition claims the dam blocks river flow, flooding fences and pasture, and seeks abatement. A hearing on a temporary injunction was to be held today by Judge Springer at New Hampton, with the February term set for the case.

Luther College to Open Basketball Season with Augustana

Luther College will host Augustana College from Rock Island Illinois Tuesday December 10 at 8 p m in the LC gymnasium in the season opener. Admission is 25 cents. The game is Luther's first on the floor this season and may be the only game before the holidays.
