Winneshiek County Fair Sees Record Four Day Success
The Winneshiek County Fair surpassed prior records in 1916 with a four day program featuring auto races, balloon ascensions, fireworks, and a baby health contest. Attendance and receipts topped $6,000 with a planned surplus for 1917, while improvements to the amphitheatre and track ensured better viewing and safety. The event drew big crowds Thursday through fireworks and auto events, and concluded with hoopla over the baby contestants as the fair nation praises its achievements.
