De Leon Bears Meet Comanche Indians In County Showdown

Bearcats Defeat Panthers 6-0 In Season Opener

The De Leon Bearcats opened the 1979 season with a 6-0 win over the German Panthers. A second quarter fumble recovery set up a short touchdown drive by halfback Jimmy Lewis, and the defense held the Panthers through the second half. Ledbetter threw for 74 yards with one interception, while the Bearcats outgained German 220 total yards and controlled time of possession amid multiple penalties. Golden Oak Milling founders build a regional feed firm

Doc Caraway and family started Golden Oak Milling in 1932 after launching a registered Shorthorn herd in 1925. Texas banks remain leaders in 1979 farm loan totals

Texas banks held 2.7 billion in outstanding farm loans as of January 1 1979 with 2.2 billion in non real estate lending and 500 million in farm real estate. Production Credit Associations and Farmers Home Administration also funded farm lending nationwide totals show banks trailing only Iowa and Illinois in agricultural loans. Duffey notes banks faced large capital needs and are expanding lending programs to meet farmer credit demand.

Harris Ratings Favor Comanche In Preview This Week

COUNTY TAX ENTITIES TO FORM APPRAISAL BOARD

The tax relief amendment and Senate Bill 621 push counties toward centralized appraisal units.
