Bearcats Triumph in Hamilton Scrimmage 2-1

The Bearcats won 2-1 at Hamilton in the second scrimmage of the season. De Leon scored on a 50 yard run by Jimmy Lewis and a 50 yard pass from John Ledbetter to Darrell Preston. County Receives Title I Funds for Comanche County

Congressman Charles W. Stenholm announced Comanche County is eligible for 5538.02 in Title I funds under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act amended by Public Law 95-561. Funds will support programs to improve basic skills in reading writing and mathematics for economically deprived children. Districts will receive further eligibility information from the Texas Education Agency.

Proctor Residents File Petitions Over Sheriff Activities

More than 325 Comanche County residents and local merchants signed petitions presented to the Comanche County Commissioners Court protesting sheriff's department actions in Proctor. Future Homemakers Present Check To Muscular Dystrophy

On Monday September 3 the De Leon Future Homemakers of America traveled to Abilene to join the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. The FHA chapter gave Bob Izzard a check for 1514.28 dollars for MDA after hosting a Rock A Thon on April 6 and 7. Rural Rental Housing Project Under Construction

Contractor Kenneth Brown of Jonesboro has completed about ten percent of a six building rural rental housing complex in De The project funded by Farmers Home Administration will provide nineteen apartments across Burr and Manchaca Streets. The mix includes eight one bedroom, nine two bedroom, and two three bedroom units with completion planned for January 3, 1980.
