Fourteen Indicted by Comanche County Grand Jury
The October term grand jury for Comanche County 220th District Court returned fourteen indictments led by Owen Irvin Dunn, Precinct 3 commissioner, charged with failing to disclose a public interest in a tractor. Other defendants include Sam Pennington, Jo Ann Long, David Coates, Kenneth R. Harry, Terrell Stone, Steven Rex Shipman, Rufus Lopez, Nolan Reed, James Torres Edwards, Edward Carl Cox, John Watson Alexander, Roger Herrera, and A W Meads. Authorities note Dunn posted a $1,000 bond and faces a Class A misdemeanor with up to one year in jail and a $2,000 fine. no trial date is set.

Cross Plains defeated De Leon 14 to 6 to hand the Bearcats a second straight district loss. The Buffaloes led 8-0 at halftime and extended the lead on a 52 yard ground drive. De Leon pulled within 14-6 after a 7 yard pass from John Dennington to Edwin Hale and a 30 yard TD from Dennington to John Ledbetter. Dennington added 108 passing yards. Ledbetter 89 receiving. Lewis 110 rushing.
