The Leon County Commission approved a motion to grant the city dump $300 per month in county funds starting next month. Also notes a Bearcats game and pep rally this Thursday with the Le Leon Twirlers at halftime.
De Leon Bearcats seek district win number two facing Ranger Bulldogs Friday night at 7 30. Ranger sits 1 5 this season 1 0 in district play after a 27 13 win over Santa Anna.
The University Interscholastic League announces District 10 A realignment for 1974 with Coldthwaite and publin joining and Santa Anna leaving. The district will have seven teams De Leon Ranger Early Bangs Cross Plains Dublin Goldthwaite. Coach Waggoner expects a tougher schedule.
A list of petit jurors for the 52nd District Court of Comanche is announced with appearances by 9 a.m. October 29 in the District Courtroom in Comanche. Jurors include Arlene Foley, E A Cornwell, Clyde Weaver, T E Kelley, Keith Chapman, Sue Wilson, Floy Harris, Charlie Wright, and many others from De Leon, Dublin, Gustine, Blanket, and surrounding areas.
De Leon Bearcats open district title bid with a 16-0 victory over Cross Plains Buffaloes. Hodges led the offense with 75 rushing yards. Smith connected on a key 48-yard pass to Wilkerson. Morgan returned a punt for 47 yards and a safety late in the game.
