De Leon Home Economics teacher Brenda Jarrell was seriously injured in a one car crash Sunday near Abilene. Her car struck a concrete bridge railing on FM 604 at about 6 PM, destroying the vehicle. She underwent surgery for multiple injuries and will be in traction for ninety days at Hendricks Hospital in Abilene, room 611.

The Salvation Army campaign opens with a LaDon's breakfast for the 1977 drive in De Leon. Campaign chairman Wes Harper leads captains Larry Simpson Donnie Nowlin Eula Weaver Charles McClure and Norma Locke. The goal is 850 dollars with one third kept locally for groceries clothing and aid and two thirds sent to the Dallas state chapter. A state project supports a Waxahachie boys camp serving about 900 boys each month. Workers will seek local donations and those not contacted may call Wes Harper.
