Public hearings will be held Wednesday October 11 and Thursday October 12 at 3 30 p m in De Leon city offices. Proceedings cover amendments to the 1977 HUD CDBG project deletions of sewer lines declared ineligible by HUD and the city’s priority the impact of the Step 1 EPA grant on the master plan for sanitary sewer improvement and the need for citizen input into the EPA Sewage Treatment Plant and collection line improvements.

A burglary at Higginbotham's Hardware occurred Monday between 5:00 and 7:00 a.m. The front door glass was shattered and one pocket knife was taken. Police chief Rodney Jeanis provided no further statement on the incident.

De Leon Man Drowns at Lake Whitney
Kenneth Lee Lancaster, 37, a De Leon resident, was found Tuesday in Lake Whitney after being missing since September 22. A park ranger reported the discovery to the Bosque County Sheriff's Office. Justice of the Peace Horace Whitley ruled accidental drowning. Lancaster owned De Leon TV Repair Service and had taught at Trimble Tech High School in Fort Worth. Services were held in De Leon on Thursday.
