Homecoming Queens Nominated For De Leon High 1985

Four De Leon High School girls are nominated for Homecoming Queen for 1985 with the winner to be crowned at halftime during the De Leon vs Whitney football game Friday night. Nominees are Michelle Carr Jenna Dixon Michelle Price and Kelli Cook.

Saddles Recovered in Wide Texas Area Burglary Case

Law enforcement and theft investigators recovered saddles from Comanche residents Randy Magers John Neill and Robert Williams and from E Ray Smith OBBCO Ranch De Leon in a joint effort by Comanche County Sheriff and Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. F G Gilchrest 48 of Robert Lee charged with burglary of buildings in Comanche Justice of the Peace Sue Johnsons Court bond set at 50000. Saddles were seized in Odessa Arlington Cleburne and Brownwood.

Commissioners Approve Comanche County Budget 1985 86

Comanche County Commissioners adopted the 1985 86 budget with General Revenue and Road and Bridge funds planned at 1 984 453. Expenditures estimated at 1 947 533, yielding a 36 920 surplus. Tax rate set at .3061 per 100, a 3 percent rise. Total tax evaluation 22 303 557, up 14 431 676 from last year. Delinquency 880 826, items due 91 417 as of June 1. Indebtedness Oct 1 stood at 121 834, all in and Bridge Funds 3 and 4. Salary increases of 10 percent for all elected officials and a 5 percent retirement fund. County employees receive 10 percent raises with retirement paid by them. The grievance committee unanimously approved the elected officials raise. commissioners sought inclusion after the vote.

Residents Oppose De Leon Landfill Hearing

A second hearing was held last Tuesday at City Hall by the Texas Department of Health on De Leon’s proposed landfill located about 1.5 miles southeast. The city filed for a state permitted site in mid February 1964, a process taking roughly 60 to 90 days for preparation, with hearings to follow 6 to 9 months after.

Priddy and Smith Win Danforth Awards at 4-H Night

School officials announce a homecoming pep rally between the De Leon Bearcats and Whitney Wildcats Friday at 3 p.m. at the football field and urge public attendance.

Football Schedule Change Announced for October 22 24

Schedule changes affect Hico games with the Cubcats canceling the October 24 matchups. The 7th and 8th grade Cubcats host Stephenville on Tuesday October 22 at 5:00 and 6:30 p.m. De Leon JV travels to Stephenville on Thursday October 24 for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.

Arts and Crafts Fair At City Hall This Saturday

The Women’s Division of the Chamber of Commerce sponsors the annual Arts and Crafts Fair at City Hall on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Artists include entrants from Dallas Belton Graham Coleman and nearby locals. Door prizes every 30 minutes. American Legion Auxiliary runs the concession.

Anterless Deer Permits To Be Issued Oct 24 25

Texas Parks and Wildlife will issue anterless deer permits for Comanche County on Thursday and Friday October 24 and 25 from 8 am to noon and 1 to 5 pm at the Comanche County Courthouse. A map of issuance compartments and rates will be posted in the county courthouse prior to issuance.
