The De Leon Ex-Students Association sponsors the Coming Home Queen to be crowned at the De Leon Dublin Homecoming Game next Friday night. A ballot in this week’s issue must be returned to the Free Press by noon Thursday October 12. Bearcats football returns after an open date and plays Bangs Friday night. Election registration reminders for November 7 are urged, and Columbus Day closure notices for the Post Office and bank are noted for Monday October 9.

Funeral Services For Elmon Kerby Conducted Sunday
Elmon Kerby 78 died September 30 at De Leon Hospital. A longtime banker, he began at Buffalo Gap Banking Co in 1918, moved with it to Tuscola in 1923, later served as cashier, EVP, then president of Farmers and Merchants Bank in De Leon. He retired 1971 after 53 years in banking. He also worked on local boards and served as deacon and choir director at First Baptist Church.

The public may submit comments by November 13 on proposed 1979 peanut program details including national acreage allotment and allocation to states. De Leon Sorority Gives 1200 for Hospital Incubator
De Leon Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority presented De Leon Hospital a 1200 donation to buy a neonatal intensive care incubator. Hospital Administrator Jack Heath expects arrival in three to six months after fundraising through volleyball, t shirt sales, bake sales, ice cream, and festival activities. The incubator supports infant temperature, humidity, oxygen, and continuous observation, aiding transport to larger facilities as needed.
