Comanche County Voting Patterns In General Election

In last Tuesday's general election Comanche County backed Democrat John Hill over Republican Bill Clements for governor while state totals favored Clements. County tallies show Hill 1,784 to 935, with De Leon at 499 to 196 for Hill. U S Senator Krueger led Tower in county but Tower won statewide. Stenholm beat Fisher in the 17th District. County results include numerous state offices, district judges, and local posts, plus a county tax relief amendment passing 1,962 to 367.

New Health Careers Club Stems From De Leon Hospital

De Leon Hospital expands its Junior Volunteer program with a health careers club. A November 27 meeting invites interested high school students to explore lab work, radiology, nursing, nutrition, dentistry and more. Monthly meetings follow every fourth Monday at 7 30 p m in the hospital classroom with guest speakers, films and field trips planned.

State Whitetail Deer Contest Opens for All Ages

The program invites everyone including men women and children to submit whitetail deer from any region of the state. Bring your entry to the Free Pass office for a photo, measurements, and official entry. Winners will be announced at season end.

Booster Club Barbeque Supper Saturday Night

The De Leon Booster Club will host a barbecue supper Saturday night from 6 to 8 pm. Bodie Weaver says Arvil Setzler will prepare the barbecue and members will handle the trimmings. Tickets available at Clark Tractor, Weaver Drug, or from club members. Proceeds go to the parking lot fund. A discussion on possible Century Club membership will be held.
