Youth Revival At United Pentecostal Church Planned

A Youth Revival is planned for November 8 to 10 at the United Pentecostal Church located at 105 Manchaca. Friday and Saturday services start at 7 p.m. with Sunday services at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The evangelistic team comes from Texas Bible College in Houston and all are welcome.

De Leon Chili Cook-Off at American Legion Hall

A chili cook-off in De Leon at the American Legion Hall sponsored by Post 471 runs Saturday. Registration starts 8 a.m. with a small entry fee, cooking outdoors over open flame, rules review at 9:50 a.m., cooking 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., judging at 3:30 p.m., trophies for first, runner-up and worst chili, and public sale of all chili proceeds. Deer and Turkey Seasons Open Saturday in Texas

Texas Parks and Wildlife announces the deer season runs from November 9 to January 5, 1986, with a 58 day opener this year and higher bag limits up to five deer in many counties. Turkey season rules include a swing tag allowing two Rio Grande gobblers in spring, and a three turkey annual bag limit, with East Texas counties restricted to one gobbler. Quail season opens November 2 and runs to February 23, 1986 with a 12 bird daily limit.

Heart Association Turkeywalk Set for Saturday November 9

The Comanche County Division of the American Heart Association will host a five mile Turkeywalk at 9 a.m. in the west parking lot of the First Baptist Church. Participants recruit sponsors for pledges based on miles walked. prizes include savings accounts, clothing, toys, and gift certificates. Pledges can be made by calling Liz Sparger at 893-2137. money is due by 5 p.m. November 14.

Comanche County announces commemorative one ounce coins for the sesquicentennial with bronze at 5 dollars and silver at 20 dollars. Silver is .9995 pure. Burglar Caught At Garza's Produce In De Leon

Garza's Produce owner Vince Garza and De Leon Police Chief Jerry Register report an early Monday arrest after a burglar tried to take pecans. Garza trapped the suspect using dollies and a flashlight, holding him at gunpoint until police arrival.

Poppies to be pinned Saturday by De Leon Unit 471

De Leon and Comanche observe Poppy Day with Unit 471 volunteers. The annual event raises funds to aid needy veterans and families through red paper poppies handmade by disabled and hospitalized veterans in Auxiliary shops. The program began in 1920 and emphasizes remembrance and patriotism nationwide.
