Final Rites Held For C. F. Carmack
Charles F. Carmack 77 died in Odessa May 15 and funeral services were held May 17 at the First Baptist Church in De Leon. Rev. Tidwell and Davidson officiated. Survivors include his wife two sons five daughters two sisters fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers were his grandsons and interment followed at De Leon Cemetery.

Foundation head clarifies polio vaccine aims and steps
Basil O Conner, president of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, explains the foundation sponsors development, testing and evaluation of a safe Salk vaccine. He says the vaccine, if properly manufactured and three doses administered with proper spacing, could prevent 80 to 90 percent of paralytic poliomyelitis. The foundation stands ready to make the vaccine available to Americans as soon as possible. Continued on Page 2.
