Ten Girls Compete In 4 H Dress Revue At High School
Ten 4 H girls modeled garments they made in the 4 H Dress Revue at the high school auditorium. Senior division winners were Judy Johnson first and Lisa Walker second. Junior winner Cathy Bruton with Penny Betna second. Sub juniors led by Melinda Johnson with several blue ribbons. Judges were Theresa Scott Johnnie Scott and Susan McMillan. Local merchants donated prizes. The ten participants advance to the County Dress Revue Saturday morning seeking district competition.

New County Judge Appointed in Comanche County
Johnny Livingston named Comanche County Judge effective May 15 succeeding Albert Brannan who resigns. Brannan becomes Chief Probation Officer for the new 220th Judicial District with offices in the Comanche County Courthouse. Brannan has served as County Judge since January 1, 1975.

Kelly Mitchell Finishes Seventh in State Hurdles
Kelly Mitchell of the Kitten track team finished seventh in the 80 yard hurdles Class A at the sixth annual girls state meet in Austin. Coach Chan Priest notes she hit the first hurdle and could have placed higher. Janelle Smalley of Albany won in 10.5. Mitchell is the first Kitten hurdler at state and it was her third state meet. she is a DHS senior.

Plans are finalized for an adult track meet on Tuesday May 17 at 6:00 p.m. Proceeds fund a year round covered building at the Peach and Melon Festival grounds. UIL adopts five player girls basketball for 1978-79

Governor Dolph Briscoe approved a $18,799 criminal justice grant affecting Comanche County to continue the district attorney prosecution project in the 2nd Judicial District, covering Coryell, Comanche, Hamilton and Bosque counties. In cooperation with the State Health Department a red measles immunization clinic will be held Tuesday May 17 at the De Leon Public Schools. Supt James Perkins urges parents to check immunization records and to have earlier red measles shots redone if given before 1968. Students received forms for parental permission for State Health Department personnel to administer the vaccine on May 17.

Comanche County with thirty nine producers ranks fifth in Texas for milk output. March production reached 8,400,030 pounds while the state total was 295 million pounds. Year over year gain of one percent. February 1977 was up sixteen percent. Production per cow averaged 930 pounds, up 20 pounds from a year ago and 130 pounds from last month.
