The De Leon bands will hold their annual spring concert Tuesday May 15 at 7 30 p m in the high school auditorium with a small admission fee. Programs feature the sixth grade band junior high band next year’s high school ensemble and this year’s Mighty Maroon Band with current eighth graders advancing.
Bearcat athlete Tim Hare will participate in the state track and field meet in Austin this Friday and Saturday. He is slated to throw the discus at 12 45 p m Friday with a best of 161 11 inches earlier this season and will contest the class A shot put on Saturday at 10 45 a m with a best mark of 53 1 inches.
Approximately 230 persons attended the De Leon Booster Club's All Sports Banquet at PAR Country Club honoring the 1978-79 Bearcats and Kittens. Bodie Weaver presided as master of ceremonies with officers listed. Athletic awards went to Randall Sanders, Joey Wilcoxson, David Walker, Lloyd Eisenrich, Gregory Cisneroz, Chuck Bush, Tim Hare, and Randall Sanders in golf, plus Kitten recipients Christi Keith and Cindy Wilkerson for basketball and track. Harold Mayo of Howard Payne University spoke. district champions and team rosters for football, basketball, track, and golf were named.

Robin Hood daughter of John Hood was named valedictorian of the 1979 De Leon High School class with a 97.17 four year average. Salutatorian is David Walker son of Ollie Walker with a 96.53 average. Other honor graduates include Jana Cox Irma Cisneroz Lloyd Eisenrich Ronald Powell Rebecca Hale Risa Duke Randall Grimshaw and Peggy Denni. Exercises Friday May 25 at 8 00 p m in the First Baptist Church.
