Shelby pledged collaboration with the chamber of commerce to boost the town.
Comanche County is expected to contribute about 3.6 million in personal income tax this year with growth tied to local earnings. Statewide personal taxes reached 4.495 billion from Texas residents while national personal income tax projections rise to 93.9 billion for the next fiscal year.
Leon campaign headquarters for Ben Barnes will open Saturday April 1, located in the north half of the Craig Jewelry building. It will operate weekday afternoons in April and the first week of May, excluding weekends, with volunteers urged to reportable times and campaign materials available for pickup. Voter registration must be completed by April 6 for the May 6 primary, with blanks at City Hall and the Chamber of Commerce. all ages eligible to vote must register.
The FHA Food Show at De Leon High School showcased student entries across divisions I to IV during Public School Week. Winners included Connie Mitchell and Irene Davidson in cakes, Debra Watson in cookies, Darlene Davis in mold cookies, and Lois Gooden in cornbread, with HERO FHA members Ava Fair Jane McClellan Jeanne Coutorie Charla Ross Sandra Burkeen Lois Gooden Mary Crawford and Wadena Bingham earning ribbons. Teacher-coordinator is Mrs. Helen Short.
Randy Hardin a 6 1 senior and inside man on the first team of the Class A All State Basketball is named by the Texas Sportswriters Association. He averaged 26 points a game in league play.
Incumbent M D Stewart faces Hugh McGovern and Sam Barron for mayor while Daniel Burlison and Woody Powell seek council seats. Election at City Hall Tuesday April 4 from 8 a m to 7 p m. All citizens urged to vote.
The Church of Christ invites the public to a gospel meeting from April 3 to 9 with services each evening at 7 30 and Sunday services at 1045 AM and 7 00 PM. Paul McClung of Wichita Falls Texas will preach a well known gospel message backed by decades of ministry and international tours.
Voters in the De Leon Independent School District prepare for a Saturday election to choose school trustees. Polls open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Incumbents Forrest Eisenrich and Billy J. Hare seek re-election alongside Bill Lindsey and Gayle Mahan.
