Women’s Division Forum Set for April 1 in De Leon

The Women’s Division of the Chamber of Commerce will host its annual political forum on Friday April 1 at 7 30 p m at the Reunion Center on Highway 6 East De Leon. Candidates for city council school board and hospital board will each have a speaking opportunity.

USDA Defers Peanut Quota Increase for 1982

In a memorandum to C Hoke Leggett associate administrator of the USDA's Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service the department said it would raise national support levels for quota peanuts by as much as 6 percent if the national average production cost rose excluding land costs. Leggett said 1982 peanut production costs actually declined from 1981 so no increase is needed. The USDA also issued an interim rule on poundage quotas and Cont'dto Page7.

County Organize Crime Stoppers program announced

Crime Stoppers programs statewide involve citizens in solving felonies and keep informants anonymous. In Comanche County a directorate formed on February 10 to set policy, raise funds, and oversee payments and rewards. Donations are being accepted at Dublin National Bank and other county banks.
