Hammon Killed in Truck Wreck near Mason
Luther Lee Hammon II, 44, of De Leon died Monday after his tractor-trailer crashed near Mason on U.S. 377. The Golden Oak Milling driver was trapped in the burning rig, which firemen doused in about fifteen minutes. Stephenville Opry Hosts Senior Citizens Show
The Stephenville Country Opry staged its first Special Variety Show for Senior Citizens on Tuesday March 6 attracting 142 65 Club members and guests. The 800 foot stage hosted a fast paced program with Glenn Vowell as MC Lavera Vowell plus the Texas Country Cloggers Jerry Weast Susie Q Star Bob and Hilda Faglie and the Country Opry Band. More than twenty five acts offered country western bluegrass and gospel music including Blue Grass Combinations featuring Jimmy Hardin and Jack Boen of De Leon.
