The De Leon Fire Department met March 1 with 17 members present. Fire reports for the last two months show 24 city fires and 29 county fires. Bearcats Nipped In Regional Basketball Showdown
The Leon Bearcats fell 60-52 to Pottsboro in the Region II first round at North Texas State University. Herman Hardin led with 18 points, Randy Hardin contributed 14 as Pottsboro built a 16-13 first quarter edge and a 45-32 advantage after three. Pottsboro later beat Sanger to win Region II and advance to the state tournament in Austin. Leon finished 19-6.
