Open House Marks Public Schools Week in De Leon
Next week Public Schools Week features De Leon Schools open houses on Monday March 7 from 6 30 to 8 30 p m at the elementary and 7 to 8 30 p m at the secondary. Pee Wee Basketball Tournament follows this weekend at the gym with fifth and sixth grade teams. Citizens formed a farmers market group at the agriculture building as State Representative Jim Parker notes possible governmental funds for the project.

Gorgeous Gertrude Sult won the Cinderfellow Contest held Thursday night in the high school auditorium. Parker was named the second runner-up, with Marvelous Marilyn Priddy first runner-up and Captivating Katherine earning Miss Congeniality. Defensive Driving Course Offered in De Leon March 26
A DDC eight hour course will be taught in De Leon on March 26 from 8 am to noon and 1 pm to 5 pm with a 35 participant limit. The course reduces accidents by about 30 percent the following year and qualifies for a 10 percent auto insurance discount for three years under state mandate. Kittens Lose To Hawley In Area Playoffs
The De Leon Kittens were defeated 62 to 40 by Hawley in the area playoff game at Eastland gym. De Leon trailed 20-6 after one quarter and 36-12 at halftime. Lori Womack led with 14 points, followed by Cisneroz 10, Scott 8, and Jarrett and Joiner 4 each. four seniors finished their final game. The Kittens end the season 17-1.
