Diabetes Clinic and Screening Set for March 8
The Comanche County Family Living Committee sponsers a free Diabetes Clinic on Thursday March 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the Hospitality Room at Texas Power and Light Comanche. Dr Forrest Eisenrich from De Leon speaks on history symptoms and treatment while Dietician Jeanne Sweeney from Brownwood covers diabetic diet exchange lists and menu planning. Public health nurses Tina Ford and Sherry Rhiney from Eastland conduct blood glucose screening for all attendees.

New Food Stamp Law Effective
A new Food Stamp law goes into effect March 1, 1979, changing how lost benefits can be restored. Households wrongfully denied or whose benefits were lost due to Department error are entitled to repayment. RC&D Task Force Report Favorable Findings and Recommendations
A USDA Task Force study of the RC&D program reports it is locally directed and effective in rural development. Since 1964, 178 RC&D areas cover 1197 counties in all states except Alaska, with 3,143 local and state sponsors. Fertilization of small grains with nitrogen boosts recovery from stress, increases grain and forage yield per inch of water, and improves quality. De Leon Schools Set Open House Monday Night
De Leon public schools schedule an open house Monday night March 5 from 7 to 9 to let parents and others meet teachers and view student work. High school band plays at 7 30 and junior high at 8 with awards including the John Philip Sousa and Mighty Maroon Band awards. The district serves 666 students: 317 in junior high and high school and 349 in elementary.
