Ben Barnes to play in third annual PAR tourney Sunday

Lt Governor Ben Barnes will appear at PAR Country Club for the Third Annual PAR partnership Golf Tournament this Sunday at 2 p.m. Local pro Howard Burtschell says entries are filling fast and urges interested players to sign up promptly.

Festival duchess and queen coronation call for details

Festival invites visiting girls to serve as duchess in the parade and queen’s coronation. Call the festival office at 693-6900 for information. Exhibitions booths judged again with civic and commercial classifications. Ribbons awarded for first second and third in each class.

Texas Farmers Union state president Jay Naman of Waco will attend a get acquainted reception in De Leon on July 30 from 3 30 p m to 10 p m at the SCS Building. Accompanying him are Joe Rankin Ralls Jerry Warren Gorman and Kenneth Moss Denton district leaders. All Comanche County farmers and ranchers are invited and new members will be honored.

Board of Equalization Sets Hearing Date for De Leon Schools

The Board of Equalization for the De Leon public Schools will hold a hearing on August 3, 1971, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the School Tax Office for residents who received notices about changes in tax evaluation.

De Leon Public Schools set opening day for August 25 with student registration on August 19. Seniors and juniors register 8 to 12, freshmen and sophomores 1 to 4. Elementary registration spans rooms 1A through 6A. First graders must bring birth certificates and health records. Teacher in service begins August 16 at Cisco Junior College. faculty meeting August 20 and workday August 24.

Booth Spaces Announced for Comanche County Fair

Snakes at Comanche County Diamondback Club Booth

The Comanche County Diamondback Club will display about thirty poisonous and thirty non poisonous snakes at the Gandy’s Milk booth. Jimmy Rogers says the exhibit recreates their natural environment. A four year old daughter will help with nonpoisonous snakes while a Sweetwater handler provides a Saturday show.
