De Leon Police Dept reports June arrests and activity
City police chief Rodney Jeanis notes in June three arrests for public intoxication, two for disorderly conduct, seven for failure to appear and one burglary. The department handled 157 calls, issued 17 citations and logged 5078 miles. Over the weekend four more arrests occurred two for public intoxication and two for possession of marijuana. Ontario jail holds the marijuana arrestees. July totals show 12 citations, two marijuana arrests, four public intoxication cases and one criminal mischief. Financial constraints limit new applications to needs-based review.

De Leon Hospital Board met July 9 and passed two resolutions to comply with HB 1060. The first keeps family vehicles on the school district tax roll for 1979 by choice of local authorities. The second makes Article 1 HB 1060 effective for 1980 and future years, allowing landowners to value land for agriculture or current value, with unanimous adoption.

Veterans loan limit raised to twenty thousand dollars
As of June 13 the statutory maximum on Veterans Land Board loans increased from 15000 to 20000 dollars. The 5 percent down payment becomes 1000 dollars and the semi annual payment 630 dollars. Applications valid for 90 days instead of 120. Any transaction not closed by June 13 1979 can now be processed.
