The Free Press expands under new management with a rented space formerly Margaret's Beauty Shop to house a photoengraving plant. When ready the plant will enable more local news pictures and higher reader interest, with a Polaroid Pathfinder camera on order and Delton Cogburn added to the mechanical staff to free the editor for covering events.

Poe Recovering at Home After Heart Attack

Mr E. J. Poe of Cisco, father of Mrs. Al Strasner, who had been critically ill from a heart attack, improved enough to be moved Tuesday from the hospital to his home, though doctors order him to remain bedbound for some time.

De Leon Community Club Elects Officers

At a regular meeting at Black's Cafe Roy Thomas was elected president and J H Vance named vice president. Eldon Terrill and O H Moore kept roles as treasurer and secretary. The club active for about ten years pushes road building and local projects. The Peach and Melon Festival is planned for August 11 12 and 13 with work on a new city park underway.

Jamboree At Hodge Park Draws Thousands In Cool Weather

The 9th Annual Jamboree at Hodge Park near De Leon drew about 5,000 attendees. Weather was cool and spectators called it the best yet with top quartets and Hill Billy Music lovers pleased. Jimmy Duncan served as master of ceremonies.
