Local Men Attend Meeting On Air Control

De Leon Industrial Foundation members W. H. Smith Jr C M Caraway III Bill Brown El ton Wells and Ray Harvey attended the Texas Air Control Board hearing on air pollution regulations in Dallas on January 25. The group heard speakers for and against the proposed rules. Many thought strict controls could harm West Texas industries and curb future growth, while business leaders supported some controls but opposed driving small firms out of business.

County Youths Dominate First Comanche Livestock Show

The Comanche County Junior Livestock show at the new Livestock Auction Center netted 31 150.85 with De Leon youths winning top honors. Grand champion steer weighed 875 pounds sold for 67 cents a pound to Proctor Feed and Seed Co. 107 hogs brought 11 859.35, 52 calves 16 884.50, and 126 lambs wait. The reserve champion steer weighed 775 pounds and sold for 50 cents per pound. The top selling lamb was 126 dollars total and shown by Sid Miller. David Gilder showed the top hog for 180. The county youths praised the first show at the new center.

Caraway Re elected To PAR Country Club Board

Caraway III of De Leon and Wm. T. Cale houn of Comanche were re elected as PAR Country Club directors at the annual meeting Tuesday night. Caraway has served on the board since 1965 and is vice president and committee chair. other directors include Charles Taylor De Leon Walter Durham Comanche D. F. Caraway Comanche Dr. Bailey and Dan Watson Dublin.
