A Bangui press dispatch reports the Central African Republic president personally led soldiers to beat 46 prisoners for theft. He outlines punishments including ear loss, car removal, hand loss, and execution for successive offenses, and he orders executions for crimes against mothers.
De Leon police report progress on burglaries from the past months. Six arrests were made, all juveniles, clearing four burglaries including two grade school cases, one First United Methodist Church case, the Miry Treat burglary, and the Pecan Seed and Feed theft. Stolen pecans were recovered.
James Perkins, superintendent of De Leon schools, has had his contract extended for one year, creating a three-year total. He has served 19 years in the district and eight as superintendent, and has worked with Boy Scouts and the First Baptist Church Sunday school class, earning the De Leon man of the year award.
