U S Army Specialist 4 Larry D Hight 21 son of Mr and Mrs Amos Hight Route 2 De Leon Texas received the Bronze Star Medal in Vietnam for meritorious service while with Company C 1st Battalion 6th Infantry American Division 198th Light Infantry Brigade near Chu Lai The specialist entered the army in July 1969 completed Basic at Ft Bliss Texas and was last stationed at Ft Ord California He also holds the Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

Truman Roberts Elevates to State Criminal Appeals Court
Truman Roberts of Hamilton, long serving presiding judge of the 52nd Judicial District, assumes office on the state high court in criminal matters during a public ceremony at the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. He won election in 1970 to succeed Judge Ernest Belcher of Stephenville.

Doctor D W Rodgers Dies in One Car Wreck Near Carbon
Dr. D W Rodgers 60 a German physician was killed in a single vehicle crash Sunday night six and a half miles north of Carbon on FM 2526. Funeral services were held Monday at the First United Methodist Church of German with Rev. Frank Williams officiating. Burial followed at Gorman Cemetery. He practiced in Gorman for 32 years and helped deliver more than 8 500 babies. He is survived by his wife three sons a daughter his father two brothers a sister and seven grandchildren.

Youths Complete Red Cross Lifesaving Course in Comanche
Six Comanche County youths finished the Red Cross Lifesaving and Water Safety course at Princess Geraldine's Playhouse.
