Water District Upgrades Lead To State Approved Status

The Upper Leon River Municipal Water District improves facilities serving De Leon Dublin Comanche and Gorman. Zollie D Skaggs earns Grade A Water Works Operators certificate while Lowell G Pittman already holds Grade A in water and wastewater. Farmers Must Report Social Security Taxes by January 31

Ellis Campbell Jr of the Internal Revenue Service North Texas district says farmers must report Social Security taxes withheld for 1971 by January 31 using Form 943. Farmers paying cash wages of 150 dollars or more yearly must withhold. the 10.4 percent tax applies to up to 7800 dollars. Half is paid by the farmer and half by the employee. Farmers must issue W-2 statements to workers paid 600 dollars or more yearly.

De Leon area postmaster Reese Upshaw announces a new Federal tax booklet Your Federal Income Tax from the Internal Revenue Service will be sold at postal facilities. The guide includes a filled Form 1040 sample and explanations keyed to entry pages. Copies cost 75 cents with a nationwide rollout to 15000 post offices.
