1980 Peanut Crop Support Levels And Sales Policy Announced
Secretary of Agriculture Bob Bergland announced national average support levels for 1980 crop quota peanuts at 455 dollars per short ton and 250 dollars per short ton for 1980 crop additional peanuts. The quota level rises 35 dollars from 1979, while the add-on price falls from 300 dollars due to expected lower oil and meat prices. Policy sets CCC sale minimums at 105 or 107 percent of the loan value for domestic use, with special rules for harvest-season purchases and exports, and imposes export restrictions on oil-derived peanut products and crushing exports.
