Hanson Receives Texas Conservation Farm Award

B E Hanson of De Leon in Leon Soil and Water Conservation District is honored as outstanding conservation farmer rancher at the Texas Farm and Ranch Credit School at Texas A M University. He farms 3145 acres with livestock crops pecans watermelons and peanuts and began conservation efforts in 1955. He practices pasture management crop residue use irrigated water management and wildlife habitat planning. He is active in the De Leon Chamber of Commerce and Comanche County Farmers Union.

Solomon Testifies On Peanut Program Before Senate Panel

Census figures show 9.4 million young adults in their early to mid twenties, up from 6.9 million a decade ago, signaling higher future births as marriages rise. Local ratios show 148 births per 100 marriages, with a 63 percent rise in 21 to 24 year olds since 1965, and officials predict births will increase for five to ten years.
