Comanche County is reinstated in the drought emergency feed area announced by the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Administration. Applications for feed are being taken at the ASC Office in Comanche, with corn and wheat the only available feeds. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, closed Monday February 22 for a holiday.

Seventeen workers met at Black's Cafe to launch the Salvation Army Annual Drive in De Leon with a $500 quota matching 1953. Separations Outrank Service Inductions in Texas January
State Selective Service reports January draftees and enlistments in Texas totaled about 3,900 with 2,600 enlisting. More than 4,200 Texans were separated, led by army separations. Funeral services were held for William Perry Cox at the First Baptist Church in De Leon with Rev. T. J. Sparkman officiating. Cox, born July 21 1867 in Piney Valley Mississippi, died February 9 in Houston Texas at 86.5.
