De Leon-raised hogs and locally raised cattle highlight the Southwestern Exposition Fat Stock Show in Fort Worth. J. J. Mathis of De Leon earned major honors including Reserve Champion Hampshire Boar and Champion and Reserve Champion Hampshire Sow. L E Furtick of Mineral Wells becomes manager of the Duke and Ayres store in De Leon starting Tuesday. He served as assistant manager at the Mineral Wells location for two years. Letter From Former Pastor Recalls De Leon Tenure
W R Clark received an interesting letter from Rev J N Campbell of Coolidge Arizona dated January 22. Campbell formerly served as pastor of the local First Baptist Church from March 15 1925 to May 26 1929. He recalls De Leon population 1813 and church membership 413. He lists Baptisms 413, letters of transfer 127, total gifts for all purposes 44476 with 24404 from mission offerings and notes 35 rooms S S Training Union and Mission Study Classes.
