City Hall Hosts 65 Club Christmas Party

The Farmers & Merchants Bank 65 Club held a Christmas party at City Hall on December 20 for 175 members and guests. The Followers evangelistic group performed gospel and Christmas music, with a ventriloquist dummy visit by Willie. Attendees enjoyed an array of desserts, exchanged gifts, and received peanut lapel pins from the bank. Hostesses included Tola Wilson and Sue Wilson.

The ASCS Office invites cost share assistance requests with sign up through January 31. Practices are approved by priority order not first come first served. Priority list includes soil and water conservation measures such as permanent vegetative cover, waterway shaping, seeding grasses, cross-fencing, livestock water wells and pipelines, diversion terraces, brush control, water impoundments, and terrace systems.

License Plate Renewals To Be In The Mail Soon

Texas motorists will receive license plate renewal notices by mail as a new system spreads renewal dates over 12 months. Vehicle numbers determine renewal month, prorated fees apply, and notices must be shown at county tax offices. Fire Destroys Home on Pittman Street

A fire that started from a bathroom heater gutted a frame home on Pittman Street last Thursday night December 22. De Leon volunteers fought the blaze for over two hours damaging the interior and attic as firefighters faced dry conditions and many closets and stairways where fires rekindled. Owner Ben Hernandez and his daughter and son in law Freddy and Mrs Rubio lived there with three occupants reported. The Rubios remained at the scene until 1:00 a.m. Thursday.
