De Leon Gears Up for Christmas Window Display and Events

De Leon merchants showcase festive Christmas windows and new street decorations along main street by City and Texas Electric personnel. Stores stay open late on Thursdays until 8 PM through Christmas with Santa visiting on the 15th and Chamber of Commerce raffle proceeds at City Hall. A deer hunting note from last week mentions Johnny Golden’s seven point buck at 131 pounds with a 19% inch spread shot southwest of De Leon.

Kittens and Bearcats Set for Comanche Tournament Action

The Kittens play at 9 20 Thursday morning with a possible 3 40 p m Friday game vs the Ballinger Cisco winner. If they lose they meet the Friday 9 20 loser. Bearcats face Jim Ned at 5 15 p m Thursday with a potential 8 25 p m Friday win or 2 05 p m Friday loss. Monday December 12 junior high hosts Comanche teams. Tuesday Gorman hosts high school.

De Leon Hosts County Pecan Show Winners List

The 1977 Comanche County Pecan Show at De Leon City Hall named winners across in shell and kernel classes. Top honors went to Womack's Nursery and E A Walker with multiple firsts and several runners up from Pete Williams Wolfe Pecanland and others. County Agent Keith Hillman and Area Entomologist Dr. Cliff Hoelscher oversaw the event.

Nutrition program underway for De Leon seniors

The Senior Citizens Nutrition Program in De Leon reports strong early participation with 59 meals served the first Friday December 2 and 58 meals the following Monday. The menu for December 9 includes oven baked fish filets with sides and beverages, while December 14 offers baked ham and varied accompaniments.

Revival Services at First Baptist Dec 14 18

Revival services are scheduled at First Baptist Church for Wednesday to Sunday December 14 through 18. Santa will appear at City Hall De Leon on Thursday December 15 at 6 00 pm all kids welcome to sit on Santa knee and place orders for Christmas goodies. The De Leon Chamber sponsors a raffle with gifts from listed merchants tickets available at De Leon Free Press Weaver Drug Chamber or any Chamber board member. Hunter Safety Program Underway In De Leon Classes

Comanche County Deputy Sheriff Robert Donaldson and Fran with Texas Parks and Wildlife Officer Billy Works head an eight to ten hour hunter safety course. Taught through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Vocational Agriculture Department of De Leon Schools, the class has 22 students. заверш

Numerous Charges Filed For Illegal Hunting In Texas

Comanche County Texas Parks and Wildlife Officer Billy Works reports a record month of illegal hunting charges. Violations include hunting in closed season and at night, often from public roads. Fines range from 25 to 200 dollars, with several 200 dollar penalties issued. Works credits community reporting and warns against shining a spotlight from roads to hunt raccoons.
