Farmers Eligible For Peanut Loans

Agriculture Secretary Bergland announced 1977 peanuts contaminated by Aspergillus flavus, which can produce aflatoxin, will be eligible for government price support loans at $340 per ton for moldy peanuts not yet marketed. Normal peanuts loaned about $430 per ton. contaminated peanuts diverted from edible use and later used for oil and byproducts.

City Sets Date for Second Hearing on Block Grant

De Leon schedules a second public hearing at City Hall on Tuesday December 6 at 6:00 p.m. The session informs residents about the $250 000 1977 block grant awarded to De Leon in October, with all phases including house rehabilitation explained. Citizens are urged to attend.

Texans planning winter fur trapping must hold a license. A resident trapper license costs 5 pounds. Beaver otter license also 5 pounds. Open seasons run mirk November 15 to January 15, muskrat November 15 to March 15, and other fur bearing animals December 1 to January 31.

The De Leon Chamber of Commerce earned a plaque at the Muscular Dystrophy Association Awards Banquet in Fort Worth on November 18. Meal program for senior citizens begins in De Leon

Comanche County joins West Central Texas Council of Governments Title VII Nutrition Program for Aging Citizens. The no charge meals with a voluntary contribution start Friday December 2 at 11 45 to 12 15 in the Senior Citizens Center. Eligibility 60 or older or spouse. meals funded by contributions and about 70 cents per meal. Menu includes oven fried chicken and beans on Friday and beans and franks on Wednesday with sides and desserts.

Farmers nationwide plan a December 14 strike to halt planting selling and buying, demanding 100 percent parity for all agricultural products. organizers in Springfield Colorado say 175 strike offices exist in 42 states and Teamsters Union pledges not to cross primary picket lines.
