Free Chest X-Rays Offered at City Hall in August
Public notice urges adults to visit City Hall for free confidential chest X-rays on August 23 to 25 with afternoon hours on Tuesday and full days on Wednesday and Thursday. Early TB detection can cure. parents may pass it to children unknowingly. Also notes a Quarterback Club meeting on August 15 at 6:30 p.m. and updates on the Peach and Melon Festival plans for 1953 and beyond.

Miss Wadena George was appointed girls physical education teacher and girls basketball coach at a Stephenville school board meeting. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Wade George of Comyn and a graduate of Comyn High School with a BS from Abilene Christian College. Currently a stenographer in the county attorney's office in Abilene, she will move to Stephenville in September.

New Teachers Elected At Board Meeting In De Leon
In a special De Leon Board of Education meeting on August 8, 1955 Pat Lawrence was elected high school mathematics teacher for 1955-56. He replaces Wayne Chambers who becomes elementary principal, succeeding Bertha Ross who retired. Mrs. Guy Christie was hired for seventh grade. The complete 1955-56 faculty includes many named teachers and staff across grades and subjects.
