The P. A. R. Women’s Golf Association sponsors a free golf clinic at PAR Come Try Club on Tuesday May 4. LPGA stars Linda Craft and Kathy Far rer attend with PAR pro Howard Kurtschell and Ste phenville’s Ches ter Butts for a 9 hole exhibition after a luncheon. Craft, Texas amateur champion, serves on LPGA executive board and is a Ping Golf Co. representative.

Cats Place In Regional Meet

The De Leon Bearcats faced strong regional competition in Denton. David Carruth finished third in the 880 at 2 04.04, Herman Hardin was third in the 440 with 51.1, and Hardin placed sixth in the broad jump. Randy Hardin took fourth in the intermediate hurdles at 42.3, while Don Richardson vaulted 11 6 without placing. The golf team finished sixth with Tad Tate as eighth low individual.

Locals Place In Literary Meet in Denton Regional

De Leon students competed at the Regional Literary Meet in Denton over the weekend. Chapman Locke took third in poetry interpretation, Jackie Robinett third in ready writing, Ricky Brinson second in persuasive speaking, Paul Roch ninth in typing, and Donna Otwell eighth in shorthand.

Garage Sale At City Hall May 1

Final Date For Filing Slated For Peanut Allotment Transfer

The Comanche County ASCS Office reports the final date to file Form ASCS-375 for transferring peanut allotment is extended to June 1, 1971. Owners and operators of both transferring and receiving farms must sign by June 1 and file the form. liens or mortgages on the transferring farm must also sign.

President orders emergency aid for drought hit West Texas

President Nixon directs Agriculture Secretary Clifford M. Hardin and OEP Director G A Lincoln to provide emergency aid to farmers and ranchers in drought stricken West Texas. Funds will cover hay transport, feed grain sales, grazing on cropland out of production, emergency conservation practices, and loans to restore farming operations in 53 Texas counties.
