Escaped Prisoners Returned to County Jail
Mike Williams and Luis Gonzales, both from De Leon, overpowered a jailer at 8 05 p m Friday night and escaped from Comanche County jail. Officials hunted them for over thirty hours before arresting Williams Saturday night and Gonzales early Sunday. Williams faced attempted capital murder charges. Gonzales was jailed on unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Both were denied bond and returned to the county jail awaiting grand jury action.

The weeks of April 30 through May 11 are declared Clean Up Week in De Leon. City Council approved at the April 10 meeting. Sheriff Recaptures Escapees and Proctor Overdose Incident
The county sheriff's department recaptured two jail escapees this weekend and investigated an accidental overdose involving subscription medication and alcohol in a Proctor resident. Officers also linked a burglary at Proctor Lake on Saturday to two suspects arrested by Coleman County authorities and returned to Comanche County. The suspects allegedly stole soap and a blanket from the home.

The Comanche County Historical Museum offers Sunday hours 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. in summer. The museum in Comanche preserves county heritage with items donated from across the area.
