Twenty F M "Fair Ladies" and guests traveled March 29 from Dallas/Fort Worth to Tulsa then San Juan aboard Braniff and Capitol Airlines and onto the Greek liner Britanis. Ports included St Thomas Martinique St Vincent Caracas and La Guaira with extensive tours and onboard amenities. The trip ended back in Fort Worth Dallas by early April 2 with a long list of travelers from De Leon Gorman Stephenville and surrounding towns.

The Bearcats won the Class A Bearcat Relays with 135 points, Breckenridge took AA with 110 and Cherokee won Class B with 107. Toby Hare and Tommy Cleere led with multiple firsts including Hare’s shot put and discus marks and Cleere’s two hurdles wins. The De Leon Volunteer Firemen hosted the North Central Texas association pumper races with teams from Comanche Eastland Ranger Cisco Breckenridge Strawn Step enville Mineral Wells Weatherford Aledo Dublin and Gorman. About 200 attended a Mozelle's Country Kitchen barbecue. Mineral Wells won most races. Weatherford took the mileage trophy.

The DHS Kittens scored 161 points to Best Bangs 137. Five high school girls qualified for the regional meet in Brownwood on April 24, led by Kelly Mitchell who won the 80 yard hurdles and high jump. Perri Lou Short also won the 100 yard dash, Shirlee Chapp claimed the 220 yard dash, and Terri Van Zandt earned a triple jump medal.
