Pecan Field Day Set Near Gorman In Eastland County
The Eastland County Pecan Field Day will be April 28 at the C D Simmons orchard near Gorman. A state wide meeting of the Senior Citizens organization will be held at De Leon city hall from 10:00 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. Ben Wilson, State President, will discuss pension funding and amended liquor tax allocations. The event is open to all, especially old age assistance recipients, with dinner at minimal cost and an entertainment program featuring the De Leon High School Band.

Longtime Fort Worth peace officer Spivey dies at 57
Wid Spivey 57 former De Leon police chief and Comanche County sheriff died in Fort Worth after heart attack. He served as White Settlement Police captain and answered an emergency call March 12 before collapsing en route to a hospital. Survived by wife Evin Sloan, his mother, and brothers Roy and Melvin Spivey.
