Town Talk April 3 Election and Local Paving Report

Gayle Wilkerson notes election day on Saturday for city, school board, and hospital board positions. De Leon streets are being repaved, while livestock owners are urged to guard cattle bogging in low stock tanks amid a dry winter. Rain is hoped for soon to ease conditions.

Bearcats Win Second Track Meet at Eagle Relays Goldthwaite

The Bearcats scored 117 points to Goldthwaite s 69 at the Eagle Relays in Goldthwaite on Saturday. Toby Hare won both shot put and discus, Craig Smith took the 120 hurdles, and Toby Morris led the mile. relay teams and numerous Bearcats added points across events.

Auxiliary supports De Leon Hospital expansion drives gifts

The De Leon Hospital Auxiliary raises funds and buys supplies for the new wing. They donated 2200 for a double room, 562 of dishes and flatware, baby feeding spoons, and holiday gifts. Membership dues are 3.00 yearly, good through September 1977, with 249 members including 20 men. Mrs Eula Weaver is incoming president and meetings are first Tuesday night, September through May.

Elections Set for City Hall Saturday Polls Open 8 to 7

City, school, and hospital elections will be held this Saturday at City Hall. Voters select a mayor among Pat Eisenrich Scottie Campbell Connie Gardner for one seat. Council candidates are R.M. Tate Glenn Bruton and Jim H Wilkerson. School board terms include Bob Huddleston Bill Lindsey and six challengers Jackie Johnson Ben Boen Bill Anderson Marsha Sides. Hospital board features incumbents Hiram Smith Jr and Fred Williams.

Savings Bond Goal Announced for Comanche County

Comanche County Savings Bond goal set at 22 million 950 thousand dollars by Chairman Reginald Waggoner. January sales of Series E and H bonds totaled 6 thousand 981 dollars, about 3 percent of the county target. Texas statewide 1976 goal is 272 million 400 thousand dollars. January sales reach 24 million 118 thousand 300 versus 23 million 290 thousand 606 a year ago.

De Leon Public Schools will host the District 10 A Literary meet on Saturday April 3 1976 with contests starting at 9:00 a m at both elementary and secondary schools. Kittens Win Relays At Home Meet In Closely Contested Event

DHL Kittens topped the relay meet with 844 points. Eastland and Cisco followed with 83 and 82. Granbury 60 and Santa Anna 44. Top performers include Kelly Mitchell in the 80 yard hurdles Perri Lou Short in the long jump Terri Van Zandt in the triple jump. Jr High results note Granbury Jr High girls won with 181 points and De Leon swimmers show progress.

Track action this week features 800 yard relays and jumps

The meet results list top finishes for Cisco, Eastland, De Leon, Granbury and others in sprints, relays, jumps and throws with team totals and individual wins. The Kitten Track team misses an official meet but plans a practice against Eastland and Comanche at De Leon Friday, while the Varsity Bearcat team also heads to Comanche.
