The notice lists Wednesday morning publication by J. W. Dawson and T. W. Campbell with office at Main and Cathoun Streets. It includes subscription rates for different payment periods and references inducements or penalties for late payments.
Acting Attorney General Coffey letters to district attorneys outline amnesty provisions. Pardons released repentant rebels from treason penalties and halt prosecutions with proper evidence of compliance. Excepted class includes rebel officers above colonel and civil leaders. Restoration of rights of property possible, excluding slaves, with third-party rights intact.
The New York Leader criticizes the state Democratic Convention for bowing to peace faction influence and urges War Democrats to form a loyal, united front. It argues purification of the party will strengthen democracy and victory in the war, likening opposition to government to treason and calling for practical consolidation.
The Democratic State Central Committee fixed Indianapolis as the convention site for July 12, giving candidates three months to campaign statewide. Critics charge the committee split the party by delaying the state convention and by privately selecting delegates, risking a weakened slate against five months of opponent lead time.

On the House floor on the 29th alt Mr Long of Ohio offered a preamble ending in a resolution urging the President to appoint commissioners Franklin Pierce Millard Fillmore and Thomas Ewing to meet Confederate counterparts to seek a renewal of hostilities and a restoration of the Union. Twenty two representatives supported the proposal with listed names including McDowell Voorhees and White while 96 voted nay.
Representative Pendleton argued the military arrest and banishment of Clement Vallandigham violated the Constitution and laws. The motion to sustain the resolution failed 47 to 76 with numerous listed Yeas and Nays.
A party of twelve to fifteen furloughed soldiers from Company C 441 Ohio Regiment ransacked the Empire Office at noon. Afterward the crowd grew restless as E. S. Young and RB Conwin spoke to calm passions. A man in the crowd cursed the government protecting the negros, shots fired wounded two soldiers and Daniel Cail of Tippecanoe died. Capt Badger was arrested and bailed at 560. Home Guards stand ready. Michigan Legislature passes a bill to void absences for soldiers.
March reports detail Senate approval of bounties extensions and freedmen Bureau, House whisky tax impasse, and rising war notes. Dispatches describe Lee, Sherman, and Longstreet movements, with cavalry raids, exchanges, and pressure around Dalton, Meridian, and Vicksburg.
A late abolition pamphlet advocates blending races and praises amalgamation with endorsements from prominent figures. The piece repeats favorable quotes from notable leaders and notes sales through the American News Company with a 23 cent price.
An English officer commends General Magruder Johnson Johnston Bragg and others, detailing their appearance, character and military views. He notes their praises and criticisms, with anecdotes on Stonewall Jackson, Magruder’s charm with ladies, and Davis’s calm manner during wartime.
