A Yorkshire White Sow with a short turned up nose weighing about 175 pounds strayed from Walter Thompsons farm. A suitable reward is offered for information leading to its recovery. Contact E. E. Miller in Davidson at phone 122.
Municipal Elections 1 is three weeks away with nominations on December 3 and elections December 10. Town council terms expire for Mayor Hutcheon and Councilors Easter Norris and Tansey, with two rural school board vacancies for Scott and Blackmore. Rural municipalities adopt two year terms matching city alderman elections, with staggered 1 and 4 year terms this year and future automatic retirements next year.
A prairie fire started south of Davidson around noon Monday and burned or damaged several sections of valuable hay land throughout the day and into the night. It threatened farms of Mr. Trusson Mr. Wm Cawsey and James Forester as crews fought to stop the blaze. J Carlson lost one stack of about 35 tons and Mr Trulson lost another stack of hay.
By invitation of Mr and Mrs E Pember two meeting of members of the jam of St George s Anglican was held at their house on Monday night at eight o clock. The meeting was convened to meet the new Priest in charge Rev J R Smith and determine how best to fit in the Sunday services and his other appointments.
J Fred Johnston of Wadworth declared elected to represent Last Mountain in the federal constituency. A unionist committee and executive were named to handle political questions in the constituency during the war, with members from Bladworth Regina Touchwood Fair Hill and other communities.
Private Thomas Shearer died in action on October 31, 1917, while serving with the Canadian Mounted Rifles in France after enlisting in the summer of 1915. A Scotland-born resident of Davidson for two to three years, he worked at Reyes Bank and was known for his cheerful spirit and sportsmanlike conduct. He recently returned from leave at his parental home in Scotland and died as he fought to defend God Liberty and morality.
Reports from across Saskatchewan show unusually late plowing as farmers resume work after October freezes. Despite October freeze up stopping plows, many fields were turned in late October and throughout November, creating a record in farm activity across the region.
Secretary G Clarse of the Victory Loan Committee announces last evening bonds totaling 139300 sold with 159900 in the Davidson subdivision. Davidson district shows strong support with 50000 subscribed and eight days remaining to boost creditable totals across Chamberlain Alesturys Bladworth Girvin Craik Kenaston and others.
Duncan Campbell pleaded guilty to common assault charged by Cheeter Dean in the Justice of the Pesce Court yesterday. Judge Popplewell imposed a fine of 65 shillings plus costs totaling 7 dollars. Witness Wm McGregor testified but claimed no precise knowledge of the incident.
Justice M. Popplewell heard a case under the School Act against Thos Manion for neglect and refusal to cause his daughter Loretta to attend school during September. Wr Menon received a suspended sentence and was ordered to pay costs totaling $6.45.
Organizers plan a Red Cross meeting Thursday night November 29 at eight in the town hall to organize a Canadian Red Cross trench. Major Hutcheon to preside. A large attendance is desired.
The meeting on Friday November 9 discussed the society's officers and their eight week agenda. Members reviewed duties and set goals for leadership tasks.
