Funeral for A W Routledge KC Draws Wide Town Attendance

Large crowd attends the funeral of A W Routledge KC in an Anglican service led by Rev H H Stickings. Thunderstorms and a townwide pause accompany the procession before interment in Sidney Nova Scotia. Pallbearers include Mayor Hutcheon and other local figures. numerous floral tributes from Regina Saskatoon and Moose Jaw associations and individuals are noted.

Farm accident grips L P Landen at Little Devil engine

T. P. Landen of Penzance, working for his uncle A C Paulson on a farm seven miles from town, had his sleeve snag in a Little Devil engine gear. His left arm was pulled into the gearing, tearing muscles below the elbow. He was brought to town for medical care and will be unable to use his arm for some time.

Scrap Iron Drive Proposed by Red Cross Homemakers

At Monday night’s town council meeting Rev T Bray urged a provincial scrap drive using town labor to collect junk iron steel rubber and copper. Proceeds would go to the Red Cross with a drag planned for Friday to gather materials and dump them at the loading platform for shipment.

Local Farmer Mey % Dies After Tuberculosis Battle

Mey %, a 38 year old farmer from the Smithburg district, died of tubercularis on Sunday under section 1729 282. He was of German descent and had lived in the district three years. He leaves a widow and two children, a son and a daughter. Rev. Jack son of Bladworth conducted service at M. S. Popplewell Undertaking Parlors at 10 p.m. and interment followed at Bed cemetery. The poll bearers were Alex Smith, Wolcox, Nae gen oak, and HD yle.

Knox Church Petition Seeks Wartime Prohibition Action

Sunday evening service at Knox Church featured a temperance petition urging the Dominion Government to enact wartime prohibition. The petition requests banning manufacture and transport of intoxicating liquors for beverage use or their sale across Canada, with a motion to adopt and forward it to authorities.
